Robot Surgeons

Hey bloggers and tech fans!  Life imitates art (science) once again.

A company named SRI International is developing what they call a "Trauma Pod" where robot surgeons in a mobile pod will provide life-saving medical procedures to injured soldiers until they can be transported to a hospital for more extensive care.

The robots are still operating on dummies.  I wonder who is going to be the first (gulp) ‘volunteer’.

Laura

So what is wrong with sending doctors into the battle field? Why send a machine that will probably have to come with an engineer to fix any problems that may occur. Seems like too much unnecessary effort.
